Tired, Gritty Eyes? We Can Help You See Comfortably Again.

Personalised dry eye treatment plans using advanced diagnostics and ongoing care.

Dry eyes affect millions of people. They cause discomfort that ranges from mild irritation to severe pain. But if you are experiencing the tell-tale burning, stinging, or gritty sensations, rest assured – effective treatment is available.

What Is Dry Eye?

Dry eye happens when your tears do not adequately lubricate your eyes, either because you are not making enough or because they evaporate too quickly. It affects people of all ages but becomes more common as you get older. Hormonal changes and environmental factors can also play a part.

Left untreated, dry eye can get worse over time. However, with a carefully created treatment plan you are likely to experience significant improvement.

Common Symptoms

Common Symptoms

Dry eye symptoms can vary from person to person, but most people experience a feeling of grittiness, burning, or stinging. Redness, fluctuating vision, and light sensitivity can also be a sign. You might also notice increased discomfort when using screens or being around air-conditioning and – paradoxically – watery eyes, as your body tries to compensate for the dryness.

Diagnosis And Treatment

Diagnosis And Treatment

Assessments last about 45 minutes and begin with a discussion of your general health, lifestyle, work environment and symptoms. Understanding your daily habits helps us identify contributing factors.

We’ll examine your entire external eye using specialised equipment, including a detailed assessment of your eyelids, lashes, and tear film quality.

Fluorescein dye highlights areas of dryness and tear patterns, and meibomian gland imaging assesses the oil glands in your eyelids that prevent tear evaporation.

Treatment Options

We will never just prescribe generic eye drops, any treatment offered will be based on your individual needs. Prescription eye drops, heat therapy, and specialised cleaning procedures can all be effective.

Our advanced treatments include BlephEx for deep eyelid cleaning, Blephasteam for heat therapy, and ZEST treatment (an okra-based gel) for thorough lid hygiene. Meibomian gland expression will also help restore natural oil production.

We also supply products such as lid wipes, eye wands, and omega-3 supplements that will help you manage dry eye.
